The project titled "IP4PDGS (Innovative Platform for Payload Data Ground Segment)" focuses on the study and design of an innovative cloud computing infrastructure for processing satellite payload data. The implementation of this study is expected to lead to the development of an innovative service aimed at significantly reducing the time and cost of operation and processing for Earth observation missions. This service aims to provide competitive solutions in both the European and global markets.

The designed service is intended to be flexible and easily adaptable, aiming to meet the requirements of different future satellite missions and leverage commercial opportunities within the existing global infrastructure. In contrast to existing systems that are typically tailored to specific mission specifications, the new service allows users to process data without the need to create a fully customized system for each mission. Instead, it offers a flexible framework with options for basic functions.

The goal of the study is to improve the integrated processing chain by creating a service that enables users to process data without the need for a complete redesign of a fully customized system. By incorporating external data sources, the service provides new ways of finding data according to user needs, eliminating constraints and reducing workload. Overall, the project addresses challenges posed by existing systems, offering flexible solutions for the Earth observation market.
